If you're still on a high from last week's documentary film festival in Durham or feel frustrated because you missed it, stop by Exploris on Sunday, April 16, for some global enlightenment. The documentary That's Why I'm Working deals with the preponderance of child labor in Bangladesh. The small Eastern country is so impoverished, children go to work as domestics or trash collectors to help provide for their families. These full-time jobs prevent them from going to school--generally the only true way to bring an end to the vicious cycle of poverty. The film interviews students in a Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee school for their perspectives on the world and a taste of their everyday experience. The screening, part of a series co-sponsored by DoubleTake (the film festival people), will be followed by a panel discussion. See "Special Showings" for details.
