THE JAGUAR CLUB
THE CAVE—Stop me if you've heard this before—jittery, jagged guitar pulses bouncing to the dance floor. Brooklyn trio The Jaguar Club aren't doing anything Interpol hasn't refined to a science, but if imitation were felony instead of flattery, rock would be a moldy corpse with crumbling warrants. Frontman Will Popadic offers a forlorn croon, Yoichiro Fujita's punchy bass is a fine foundation for the shimmering jangle of moody pop tracks like "This Year," and Jeremiah Joyce's nicely accented traps keep the rhythm percolating. You drop $5; they drop at 10 p.m. —Chris Parker

SALSA DOBLE
PARKER AND OTIS (FORMERLY FOWLER'S)—Keen on meeting some hip-shaking Gen X & Y folks who care? Traction, the Triangle's activist social network for left-leaning 20- and 30-year-olds, is throwing a salsa party called "Salsa Doble." Beginning with a salsa dance lesson at 7 p.m., the party officially starts at 8 p.m. with plenty of fresh-made salsa, hip wiggling and progressive talk to go around. Besides the salsa eating, Traction is celebrating the local tomato harvest by offering salsa-making workshops. "Tractivists" maintain interest in local issues, with the current focus on immigration, farmworkers' rights and local food. The cover is $10. For more info, visit www.gettraction.org or call 419-8311 ext. 28. —Megan Stein
