A Touch of Sugga
N.C. Central University—Diabetes is no laughing matter (trust me, my dad has it), but N.C. Central University hopes to use laughs to educate the public about diabetes among African-Americans with A Touch of Sugga. Part of a series of health-themed productions by Howard L. Craft, this play features an African-American man (Irving W. Truitt) and his family's struggle to manage the disease. N.C. Central officials hope the play spreads awareness of the 2.8 million African-Americans living with diabetes and of the research that's being done to help monitor and reduce symptoms.

The play goes up at the University Theatre in the Farrison-Newton Communications Building. The free show, which began last weekend, continues with shows Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and today's 2 p.m. matinee. Information booths open at 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. For more information, call 530-6761 or 530-7776. —Zack Smith
