Triangle Gay Men's Chorus

First Presbyterian Church—Since the war started six years ago, more than 4,300 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq and another 632 have been killed in Afghanistan. Considering the sustained violence abroad and, most recently, the hate-crime murders in Kansas and Washington, D.C., it's time to reflect on how we can make our world a more peaceful one. The cantata BraveSouls and Dreamers is based on the teachings of peacemakers Mother Teresa, Gandhi, Confucius, Buddha, Jesus. The Triangle Gay Men's Chorus performs the work of composers Robert Seeley and Robert Espindola, which explores the impacts of war against the calls for peace by major historical religious figures. The chorus performs two shows this weekend: Saturday, June 20, at 8 p.m. at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church, 1801 Hillsborough St., in Raleigh and today at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 305 E. Main St. Tickets are $12-$15. To purchase tickets online, go to —Lisa Sorg
