Stealing Home (The Architecture of Intimacy)

When: April 14-23 2011

You've surely heard that line about how you can't go home again, that it's impossible to relive or re-enter your memories of childhood and dreams. However, thanks to the Archipelago Theatre, we are presented with a solo vocal cabaret show by Ellen Hemphill, an evening of songs about the intimate spaces we occupy and share. Written and performed by Hemphill, artistic director for Archipelago and a professor at Duke University, Stealing Home is a performance piece that combines reinterpreted popular songs, original film and an installation-inspired set to create a memory-scape of personal and structural interiors, finding bits of home through sound, image and memory. The show begins at 8:15 p.m. Pay what you can tonight only ($5 minimum); tickets $15–$17 thereafter. Performances run through April 23.—Christina Cass

Price: $15-17
