Rumpus in Rome

When: Oct. 5-6, 8 p.m. 2012

Whether or not you've been introduced to adult puppet theater through the movie Team America or the play Avenue Q, witnessing puppets doing the nasty or at least the naughty is sure to give you the giggles. Jabberbox Puppet Theatre co-creators Debby Seabrooke and Marianne Gingher met at UNC-Greensboro in the 1970s but started their salon-style company only three years ago to promote puppetry throughout the Triad area.

They seem to have a penchant for silliness and trademark "brief puppet nudity" that has drawn sold-out audiences for their initial works. This season's Rumpus in Rome follows the Queen of England, who is tired of Diamond Jubilee festivities and flees to Rome for a bit of fun. Performances, which are not recommended for children, are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. —Christina Cass
