Our Town

When: April 9-25 2010

People who make regular excursions to New York to catch up on theater have lately returned raving about one of the unlikelier hit revivals in recent years: the David Cromer-directed production of Our Town at the Barrow Street Theatre, a low-key, modern-dress affair that nonetheless reminded audiences of the extraordinary power of Thornton Wilder's 1938 work. His three-act play recalls life in a sleepy Grover's Corner, N.H., and we spend much of the story following childhood friends George Gibbs and Emily Webb, who eventually marry and grow old together. Now Raleigh Little Theatre takes on this durable, newly current show with performances that run through April 25. Tickets are $15 for seniors and students, $18 for adults and $10 for all for the first Sunday show. —Sarah Ewald
