On Time

When: July 30-31 2013

Durham Cinematheque is the film series that can't say no, moving from venue to venue in search of "a big dark room," as mastermind Tom Whiteside describes it. Whiteside brings a multi-screen program for two nights to Bill Fick's Supergraphic, a wonderland of a print studio and exhibition space at 601 Ramseur St., amid the scruffy warehouses between downtown Durham and the Golden Belt complex. "On Time" will feature a different opening suite each night, including obscure footage of harpsichordist Wanda Landowska and visual artists Chaim Gross and Glen Alps. Both nights conclude with a Whiteside-trademark, multiple-projector set mashing up Eisenstein, Keaton and other film luminaries. No one manipulates film quite like Whiteside, so if you've been putting off seeing his shows, check this one out in order to poke around in Supergraphic, too. —Chris Vitiello
