Museum After Hours: "Glow"

When: Thu., Nov. 8, 6 p.m. 2012

Remember that week last fall when you could hardly click a link without seeing pics of kittens glowing in the dark? Their glow had to do with genetic engineering efforts toward FIV resistance, but we were all thinking the same thing—where do I get one of those kittens? Durham's Museum of Life and Science, in its series of adults-only events, doesn't distribute luminescent cats, but it celebrates other things that glow. You'll learn about fluorescent creatures such as scorpions, which glow in black light. Presentations on forensic uses of chemiluminescence will thrill your inner CSI nerd. And, this being in foodieville Durham, glowing candies and cocktails must be had. Conventional food and beer trucks are also on hand. The event runs 6–9 p.m. and costs $10 per person (ages 21 and up only). —Chris Vitiello
