A Hollywood fairytale with adult subject matter, Pretty Woman is the story of millionaire businessman Edward Lewis (Ricard Gere) who falls in love with prostitute Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts). When Gere gets lost on Hollywood Boulevard, Roberts offers to give him directions to his hotel for $5, or to take him for $10. Ten dollars soon becomes thousands, when Gere offers her a proposition that's too good to refuse: spend the week with him in his posh suite. The two soon become lovers, then friends, then sweethearts as Roberts shows Gere a more compassionate way of doing business and a more passionate way of loving. The film also stars Hector Elizondo as hotel manager Bernard Thompson, who schools Gere's "niece," Roberts, on the art of dining etiquette, and Jason Alexander as hard-nose attorney Phillip Stuckey, who falls out of Gere's graces when he attempts to have Roberts for himself. Directed by Garry Marshall, Pretty Woman is presented by the Town of Cary. See "Special Showings" for more information.
