Moviegoers dreading this summer's wave of banality from Hollywood should be thrilled about the Triangle's newest movie house. Madstone Theaters--a national chain of art houses based in New York--is setting up shop in the newly renovated Imperial Theater space on Maynard Road in Cary. The six-film theater will show classic, independent and foreign films, and will kick things off this weekend with a free movie weekend Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2. All films are free and the lineup includes Citizen Kane (pictured above), All About My Mother, The Man Who Wasn't There, The Piano, Brazil and Waking Life. The theater will also host a free pig pickin' Friday, May 31, 5-7 p.m. Check out their Web site, www.madstonetheaters.com, for details. See "Theater Guide" for show times.
