This Friday, as part of their Retrofantasma Film Series, the Carolina Theater will screen the 1985 horror-comedy Return of the Living Dead. Not to be confused with Night of the Living Dead, the film tells the story of a group of residents from a Virginia cemetery who are brought back to life after accidental exposure to a strange and deadly chemical. Awake and hungry for human flesh, the zombies take on the living in this extremely gory flick. The film is the directoral debut for Dan O'Bannon (a co-author of the Alien screenplay) and stars Clu Gulager, James Karen and Don Calfa. See "Movie Capsules" for theaters.
