Memento Mori

When: Mon., April 26, 8 p.m. 2010

What:

Fans of Asian horror (specifically South Korean "K-Horror") should check out this 1999 film directed by Tae-yong Kim and Kyu-dong Min about a diary that exposes a forbidden love affair at an all-girls school. As a young girl reads this tale, supernatural events creep into her life, leading to a terrifying climax. Treated as a sequel to 1998's Whispering Corridors (Yeogo goedam), Mori actually shares little with that film beyond a similar setting and a sense of dread. The free screening, which starts at 8 p.m., is part of the Cine-East: East Asian Cinema series. The screening will be introduced by Nayoung Aimee Kwon, professor in the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. —Zack Smith
