Inflowential, Mosaic, BPL

When: Sat., Dec. 8, 10 p.m. 2012

Once one of the busiest hip-hop acts in the Triangle, Inflowential has been largely on the back burner while its members pursued other interests, including Kooley High (featuring emcees Tab-One and Charlie Smarts) and various solo efforts. Inflow still feels fresh, though, backing charismatic rhyming with jaw-dropping beatboxing and full-band arrangements that draw as much from rock and reggae as rap and funk. Promising new Raleigh outfit Mosaic takes the middle slot on the bill with wistful, shimmering pop-rock that bears a strong resemblance to Copeland. Opening is Boone crew BPL, the long-lost cousin of The Beast and The Urban Sophisticates, bolstering its raps with a bevy of horns. —Spencer Griffith
