It all began with the Irish. That's the premise of Dancing on Common Ground, a dance and live music show that picks up roughly where Riverdance left off. It begins with the Irish immigration to America during the great potato famine of the 1840s, and proceeds to connect the dots by which Irish step dance begat clogging and tap dance, and Irish folk music turned not only into bluegrass and country but rock and roll. Glad we could get that matter settled in a single 90-minute show. One night only, Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Carolina Theatre in Durham. --Byron Woods
