From his vantage point at the keyboard, Brother Yusuf Salim has seen the evolution of modern jazz working with the likes of Charlie Parker, Art Farmer and Coleman Hawkins. For the past three decades the Baltimore native has made Durham his home. On Saturday, Sept. 18, Eve Cornelius, Chip Crawford and Baltimore saxophonist Gary Bartz share a little of their appreciation for Brother Yu' with the rest of us. The "We Love You Brother Yusuf" concert at the Vital Link School in Raleigh starts at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance at Schoolkids Records and The Know Bookstore. For more information, call the school at 834-5118.
