The Chatham County Arts Council (CCAC) brings together musicians and artisans for The Heart of Carolina Festival to Celebrate the Traditional Music, Art, & Craft of Chatham County on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. on the grounds of the CCAC headquarters, Ferguson House at Wade Hampton Farms on Highway 64, six miles west of Pittsboro. The festivals offers Chatham's foremost bluegrass and traditional country performers including The Williamson Brothers, The Bluegrass Experience, Wiffer Creek, and a special reunion of the Green Valley Ramblers of the 1970s, featuring the Williamson Brothers, Jerry Stuart, Albert Vestal, and Harris Marley. The Ferguson Gallery will exhibit the photographic works of Becky Johnson, who will be available for signing her book, Inside Bluegrass: 20 Years of Bluegrass Photography. Various artists and crafters from the region will have their works for sale, and some will demonstrate the process of their art and traditional craft.
