The Mirrorings Project is an original dance theater piece choreographed and directed by Durhamite Rachel Brooker. Based on the writings of cancer survivor Lucy Grealy, Mirrorings tells the story of a girl who has part of her jawbone removed because of cancer of the jaw. The resulting disfigurement leads to an altered self-image and the trauma of growing up looking "different." Brooker's piece, performed by seven dancers, also includes video, photography and original music. The performance takes place Nov. 15, 16, and 18 at the Durham Arts Council PSI Theater.
