He ain't heavy, he's my brother

While Hal Crowther made many excellent points in his "White denial" (July 30), he also made a few errors. I will name two. One, he referred to Obama as a nonwhite person. The truth is he is both white and black. So he can neither be nonwhite or nonblack. The other, Hal refers to him as a half brother. In the black community he is referred to as a brother—not a half brother. In the white community he should also be referred to as a brother.
