Generation Hex

When: May 2-June 14 2014

"You know how 1997 felt yellow and 1993 seemed dark green," asserts an inscrutable promotional text for Generation Hex, Lump's final exhibit of the season before closing for the summer. Apparently, 2014 is all about black and white, the only colors (discounting the infinite grays between them) in New York artist Jerstin Crosby's third solo show at the gallery. Comprising small grayscale paintings and mysterious objects—a thin black pizza slice leans in a white corner—the show is like the remnants of an almost intelligible lost world; a world drained of color but rich with veiled significance. The show is on view through June 14. —Brian Howe
