Furthur with Phil Lesh & Bob Weir

When: Thu., July 28, 7 p.m. 2011

Go ahead: Laugh about Phil Lesh's voice or Bob Weir's general existence, or the fact that the two Grateful Dead stalwarts are hitting the summer shed circuit with a Garcia-less band of younger players. But the septuagenarian Lesh and his pals have been impressive road warriors, playing more than 80 gigs last year and building up a considerable songbook. More, they've been improvising their asses off, building real dialogues with their new bandmates (especially New York post-jam drummer Joe Russo) and being their usual ornery hippie selves, whether you think it's funny or not. The show, moved from Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion, starts at 7 p.m. —Jesse Jarnow
