Drivin' N' Cryin', Richard Bacchus & the Luckiest Girls, D-Sass

When: Sun., Feb. 17, 8 p.m. 2013

Drivin N Cryin's 2009 return from a 12-year hiatus was an unexpected delight: They sounded good in the '90s, but The Great American Bubble Factory was even tighter and smarter. Their twin EP releases last year separately explored a slice of their sound, from punk/power pop (Songs About Cars, Space and the Ramones) to greasy jangle pop (Songs From the Laundromat). Their twang, crackle and roar now rivals that of anyone. Director Eric Von Haessler followed the band during their 25th-anniversary tour and recently released his documentary, Scarred But Smarter, a fitting signpost for the band's first 27 years. Richard Bacchus & the Luckiest Girls open. —Chris Parker
