Chapel Hill Public Library Fundraiser

When: Sun., Nov. 13, 3 p.m. 2011

This public reading is designed to raise both funds and awareness of the Chapel Hill Public Library's library's renovation and expansion. A reduced book collection is currently available at the library's temporary space in University Mall. The library plans to reopen its location on Library Drive in December 2012. Hosted by Big Fish author Daniel Wallace and co-sponsored by Eno Press, the event presents a slew of Chapel Hill writers reading their contributions to the recently published 27 Views of Chapel Hill: A Southern University Town in Prose and Poetry, a collection of essays, verse and short fiction. Scheduled to take part are Bland Simpson, Michael McFee, Daphne Athas, Elizabeth Spencer, Nic Brown and Alan Shapiro, along with Mildred Council, aka Mama Dip of Dip's Country Kitchen. The free reading is a jam-packed hour from 3–4 p.m., followed by a $75 ticketed reception at the home of UNC President Tom Ross and his wife, Susan Ross. —Meg Stein
