Carolina Hurricanes

When: Sat., Jan. 18, 7 p.m. 2014

As the season hurtles toward the Olympic break, we still don't know just what we have in these Hurricanes. They look dreadful and lethargic, dropping eight of nine games. Then they're attacking like the hellhounds are on their heels and they reel off five straight wins. The anonymous Panthers should provide a tonic and perhaps a chance for Justin Peters to get back in the crease for a night. But red-hot Anton Khudobin should be saved to face the playoff-bound Lightning on Sunday afternoon. Speaking of red-hot, Jeff Skinner has averaged less than a goal a game over his last 20. —Chris Vitiello
