Big Daddy Love

When: Thu., Dec. 27, 9 p.m. 2012

Raleigh might as well be the second home of Big Daddy Love, considering that the proven favorites appear on local calendars as often as any other act from outside the Triangle. Based in Winston-Salem but rooted in the Appalachians, the largely acoustic five-piece wields guitars and banjo on roots-pop ditties that sometimes stretch into mini-marathons on stage. Built on solid songwriting and skilled picking, the group's vibrant, energetic jangles are well suited for dancing. There's also no shortage of melodic staying power. Tickets are $10 for the 9:30 p.m. show. —Spencer Griffith
