The two frontmen for the Jayhawks come together once again

Based on an announcement that just hit the radar, both Mark Olson and Gary Louris can now be referred to as ex-Jayhawks. In 1995, Olson left the Minneapolis-area roots-rock outfit that he, Louris and bassist Marc Perlman formed in the mid-'80s, and now Louris is reportedly closing up the Jayhawk shop for good. The 10 years following Olson's departure revealed him to be the more cosmic Americana of the pair courtesy of his desert-hatched, Gram-leaning work with wife Victoria Williams and the Creekdippers, while Louris let loose his inner Beatles and Big Star with the post-Olson Jayhawks.

An already bittersweet evening will now pack even more of an emotional wallop, with the duo harmonizing through 20 years of songs, both cowrites and single credits. This is definitely one of the highlights of the ArtsCenter's ambitious American Roots Series. 8 p.m./$16 advance, $18 day of show

Gary Louris and Mark Olson play The ArtsCenter on Tuesday, March 8.
