It's that time, again. Time to hit U.S. 15-501 and take a turn down the road less traveled to Bynum. On Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m., storytellers, puppets, artists, musicians and environmentalists will meet on Bynum's historic--and undrivable--bridge to celebrate the Haw River at the 14th annual Haw River Festival. Art by Bynum's own Clyde Jones will be auctioned off along with other artists' work (potters, sculptors, screen-printers and more) and the young'uns will be kept busy with environmental arts and crafts. Musicians Susie Crate, Project Mastana, Lunatunes and Cynthia Crossen and more will perform throughout the day. The festival is free, but donations to the Haw River Assembly, which is a nonprofit that sees to the protection and restoration of the Haw, would certainly love a donation. Plan on spending the day--the fest goes from 1 to 6 p.m.
