Be the Moon, Tim Galliher

When: Sun., Jan. 6, 9 p.m. 2013

In opening its stageless barroom to lesser-known bands, Local 506 found a way to reduce overhead on small gigs and fill more dates on the calendar. It also found a way to grant some intimacy: The Guilford County duo Be the Moon offers calm folk-pop with a gentle twang borrowed from Ryan Adams' more settled-down solo records and an adult contemporary lilt that suggests a pared-down Counting Crows. Statesville singer/songwriter Tim Galliher brings a more winsome sound, reliant on steady guitar strumming and slow-moving banjo. The free show starts at 9 p.m. —Bryan C. Reed
