America's Got Talent

When: Mon., Oct. 7, 7:30 p.m. 2013

Sure, Cher released a new album last week, and she'll bring many of its songs to PNC Arena late next spring. But the Cher number you need to hear right now is a sedate, sublime cover of her 15-year-old dance single "Believe" by Cami Bradley. A church music director in Spokane, Wash., Bradley delivered her wonderful solo piano rendition twice during the just-finished eighth season of the variety show America's Got Talent. It recasts the Cher bauble with equal parts hope and hurt, and it's perfect. Bradley didn't win, but she challeneged several worthy competitors who will join her on this bill: wry and dry comedian Taylor Williamson, coal mine survivor Jimmy Rose, Bieber-as-magician kid Collins Key, and the show's ultimate winner, brilliant dancer and computer programmer Kenichi Ebina. This will be an interesting night of thrills, regardless of your feelings on judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel, or their haircuts. —Grayson Currin
