A Very Acoustic Christmas with I Was Totally Destroying It, Unifier, Ryan Mullaney, Brantley Pollock

When: Sat., Dec. 22, 8 p.m. 2012

The holidays provide bands the chance to relax a bit, to temporarily veer away from their usual sets and musical proselytization to try something different. Some acts play cover sets, while some record labels host full nights of bands trying on yuletide standards. Others just put down the electrics and ease out their material: Tonight, the peppy and emotive I Was Totally Destroying It does just that, turning in an acoustic set alongside three other acts doing the same. Most notable might be Unifier, a strident Greensboro act who, until earlier this week, used to go by Future Ghosts. When another act with the same name handed them a cease-and-desist last week, they scrambled to find a new name; let's hope this quiet night serves as fresh start for the young band. Ryan Mullaney and Brantley Pollock share the bill. The free show starts at 8 p.m. —Grayson Currin
